A FEW TIPS FOR THOSE STARTING OUT

  • Initially try to keep your running/walking surfaces relatively flat.
  • Don't over dress, you will warm up quickly even on cool days - shorts & tee-shirts are a better option than sweat shirt/sweat pants. Save these to keep warm after you have exercised.
  • Consider your pace - you should be able to comfortably hold a conversation (OK even if it has to be with yourself!). This is commonly referred to as the 'TALK-TEST', if you struggle to do so slow down you are training to fast.
  • The training programme is a guide, while it can be followed as set out, to fit around work/family commitments some find they need to swap around days this is OK. Don't sweat it if you miss a day (hopefully not too many) just pick up on the next day on the programme.
  • For some people mapping progress by writing in the time run or walked each training day give them a sense of achievement - this is over to you we will not check but do try a develop a routine, it makes it so much easier.
